Welcome.
Who am I? …Good question….First, I am a husband and a father. I have a beautiful wife who is always supportive, without following blindly. She works far harder then I do, and never seems to think it is enough. and is a wonderful mother to our two boys. Our boys are 5 and 3. The oldest is in his first year of Kindergarten and never ceases to amaze us with what he can do. His passion right now is Lego and Superheroes. Our 3 year old is, as they say, a going concern. He never ceases to amaze us with how sweet, tender and mischievous he can be, all at the same time. We live in North Central Saskatchewan, Canada close to the beautiful Meadow Lake Provincial Park.
Second, I am a Teacher. The hours I keep would suggest that the order of these items should be reversed, but such is life. I teach High School sciences. I enjoy teaching, love my students and the community, but my passion is Education Technology. In part because I can constantly learn more, discover new things and meet interesting new people without leaving home or paying for more then my internet connection. But I also think that the skills my students learn exploring, gathering, creating, filtering, and evaluating the information on the internet will be as important, or more, than anything I can teach them about the structure of a cell or the Periodic table. I firmly believe that we should not be asking our children to memorize loads of information that they may never use, or can look up in a matter of seconds. I know that most of them will not remember that Carbon’s atomic number is 6, nor will they have a job where they need to, but if I can teach them to find that information when they need it and to evaluate the source, they will be much better served in the coming years.
Aside from that I love fishing, kayaking and reading (mostly Sci-fi and fantasy stuff).
